AMBE3000 Upgrade - MasterBridge
Since our conception back in 2019 we have been using a software emulator (md380-emu) for all transcoded primary traffic between analogue and digital on the FreeSTAR UK International MM HUB. We are now pleased to announce that we are now transcoding via a proper DVSI AMBE3000 hardware vocoder that is connected directly to the main Tier 1 HyperVisor at our Nottingham site. Digital traffic being passed from our analogue systems are now fully transcoded in both directions via directly connected transcoding hardware. This will improve audio quality, stability and latency on all systems directly transcoded to DMR protocol on our main XPeer SystemX BridgeServer in London. Since we use our primary bridging protocol, TranscodeDMR (first hop), all other sub systems such as D-Star, YSF, P25, NXDN & M17 will also show a benefit from increased audio quality and latency across the entire primary bridge. Analog stations will show “M0JKT” “FreeSTAR International” on your digital radio.
